National African-American Women's Leadership Institute (NAAWLI) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help women discover their leadership talents and use those talents in service to the communities where they live and work.


Since the inception of the National African-American Women's Leadership Institute in 2000, 47 women have graduated from the 16-day fellowship program. The alumnae are from 17 states: California (1), Colorado (1), Florida (5), Georgia (2), Illinois (6), Indiana (1), Maryland (8), Michigan (1), Missouri (1), New York (3), North Carolina (7), Pennsylvania (2), Tennessee (1), Texas (3), Virginia (3), Wisconsin (2). Generally, NAAWLI fellows are mid-level career women who work predominantly in the nonprofit and corporate sectors. Some work in local government and a few are self-employed.
