PLT in the City

Project developed by: NEMA M. ROMAN
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

PLT in the City, in partnership with the American Forestry Foundation, will extend environmental education programs to previously under-served urban populations. Built on the premise that programs “owned and operated by and for the community” will flourish, PFT in the City uses principles of community organizing to seed, root and sustain environmental education in urban schools. By providing environmental education materials to schools and training educators to use them, the project expects to increase students’ knowledge and concern about aspects of the environment. The goal is to train 225 educators in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. In turn, these advocates will expose approximately 4,500 students to quality environmental education and engage them in community action.
