Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities for African American Women

Project developed by: CHRISTINE A. TAYLOR
Location: San Jose, California

Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities for African American Women will help women with the talents and skills for business, but not the resources to make it happen, realize their dreams. The project will help them on their way by conducting workshops on topics, such as: (1) branding yourself, (2) creating your business plan, (3) getting your financial house in order, and (4) identifying obstacles. The target population is African American women interested in opening their own businesses. The project will connect these women with the resources available through existing organizations. Potential partnerships include State Farm, the local Delta Sigma Theta alumnae chapter, area colleges, and community colleges. At the end of the project, more women will be empowered with the business tools, resources, and knowledge needed to realize the dream of starting their own businesses.
