Pathways Project developed by: LISA D. MARION Location: Clairton, Pennsylvania Pathways will help high school juniors and seniors find answers to the ages old question: ?What do you plan to be when you grow up?? Often African American youngsters in low-income communities have few adult role models to help them envision career and professional opportunities. Lack of exposure often limits aspirations about career choices. Through a series of stimulating exercises and enrichment experiences, Pathways will challenge students to think outside the box about careers to pursue and help them learn about careers they may never have considered. Supplementing the career awareness sessions, Pathways will assist students to develop action plans to reach their goals. They will also get help with preparing for the SAT and selecting the right college. The Pathways program will be implemented in Clairton, Pennsylvania, a city near Pittsburgh.
