Legal Briefs

Project developed by: VELVA LASHA PRICE
Location: Austin, Texas

Legal Briefs is a collaboration with Austin Community Radio, Inc., a non-commercial community radio station, known as KAZI 88.7, which first aired in 1981. For over 20 years, KAZI’s mission and focus has been to provide educational programming and information to the community, with a special emphasis on serving African Americans and Hispanics in the local area. Legal Briefs will inform African Americans and Hispanics about legal issues commonly faced in their communities. Austin Community Radio proposes to air 2-3 minute spots, which focus on areas of law, such as family, criminal (both misdemeanors and felonies), wills, probate and real estate, including landlord tenant matters. The spots will run twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, to capture the largest audiences. The Austin Black Lawyers Association will assist with gathering and reviewing the legal information to ensure that it is accurate and relevant.
