WHOLE (With Healing ? Our Land Endures)
Project developed by: SHAI L. BROWN
Location: Albany, New York
WHOLE (With Healing ? Our Land Endures) recognizes the potential power of black churches to be a healing force among African Americans suffering with HIV/AIDS. The project challenges black churches to address the needs of those infected with the virus and affected by the stigma. The target audience is churches in the Albany Region and Capital District of New York that serve predominately black congregations and communities. Through outreach ministries focused on the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, the churches can make a difference in the lives of individuals and families. Partnerships with agencies providing HIV/AIDS services, such as the Capital District African American Coalition on AIDS, the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York and the Damien Center, will facilitate outreach and service delivery to those living with the virus, as well as provide resources for informing church leaders about the issue.
