Girls With Grace Project developed by: MARVEEN C. HENDERSON Location: Alexandria, Virginia Girls With Grace will mentor girls 11-15 years of age, building self-esteem and teaching valuable life skills. The program will provide a rich variety of life enhancing experiences in an open, fun, and trusting environment. There will be opportunities for the young women to participate in motivational sessions, training workshops, role-playing and field trips. Gathering on Saturday afternoons, twice a month for six months, the participants will learn how to enhance their personal appearance and move with ease in different social situations. They will role-play appropriate and respectful styles of communicating with adults, and practice conflict resolution skills and anger management. The project seeks to mold behaviors and influence attitudes, thus, helping adolescent girls create a positive impression, interact appropriately with peers and adults, and understand how to communicate effectively and courteously with others.
