Prepare To Lead

Project developed by: SANDRA HULL-RICHARDSON
Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Prepare To Lead will work with female college seniors at Edward Waters College, a historically black institution, preparing them to transition from campus life to professional employment. College students often graduate with the required technical skills to get a job, but lacking the polished sophistication needed to advance their careers. This project addresses that gap, offering a series of workshops on topics such as job readiness, leadership, personal appearance, conducting meeting, job interviewing, etc. There will also be opportunities for job shadowing of professional women. To be offered during the spring semester, the program will capture the women students as they are preparing to enter the work force. Local organizations with the needed resources to assist the project have been identified as potential partners. These include the local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Mary Kay Cosmetics, the Junior League, The Links, Inc., Stein Mart, as well as individuals from the corporate, educational and nonprofit communities.
